Melbourne Juggling Convention Logo Compitition
The convention needs a fresh look and we're putting it out there to YOU, the fabulous community of talented creatives to send in your ideas. The best logo design wins a lifetime pass to the convention!!! It's gotta be worth a shot?!?!?

You need to register to participate in the competition, and there's some important information you should know before you start designing...

Melbourne Juggling Convention

Logo Competition

Background:

30th Oct 2009

Next year is MJCʼs 4th year. As the event moves from strength to strength each and every year, itʼs

structure and outlook have subtly been changing each year too.

A new logo needs to be created in order to reflect these changes, and the vision for the future.

The main elements of the vision are listed below, to give you an idea of the ʻessenceʼ that the logo

should try to encapsulate.

Why change the logo?

There are a number of reasons behind changing the logo, the main ones being:

A sense of community: The convention is about the people involved. It is also about the skills,

shows, games, equipment, venue, etc, but the people within the community supporting, nurturing,

guiding the event are paramount.

The environment: Creating an inaugural image that stays the same for future events, means that

high-quality signage can be printed once and then re-used each year thereafter, reducing waste.

An opportunity to get people involved: The previous logos have been generously designed and

donated by Dave Monks from Tiger Designs. We couldʼve asked Dave to do it again for us, but this

is an opportunity too good to miss - to get the wider community involved, to gain a sense of

ownership, to be a part of the future of the Melbourne Juggling Convention.

Logo Design - things to consider:

Try to consider as many of these points as you can:

A simple design that MUST clearly show the words “Melbourne Juggling Convention”

Colourful

Works both on a white and black background

Clear & resizable, ie. stays recognisable whatever the size

The concept/idea is more important than the quality of the drawing. We can get a graphic

designer to touch up your design if required, ie. you need a good idea more than good drawing

skills!

The new MJC logo needs to reflect the vision of the conventionʼs future. Some things to consider

are: the community, the people, circus culture, performance, workshops (learning and teaching),

environmental awareness, friendly & inviting, everybody is welcome.

The competition:

Anyone can enter - it is open to all age groups - feel free to tell your friends or family

If you wish to be a part of the competition, you must register first. To register, please email

Christian at mjcinfo@gmail.com with your name, email address, and a contact phone number.

Entrants may send in as many images as they wish, there is no limit

Artwork should be supplied digitally on email to mjcinfo@gmail.com only. Drawings/sketches/

paintings/etc will be accepted, but must be scanned in and emailed. Please keep file sizes to 1Mb

maximum, and keep all your original artwork

The deadline for artwork is 28th February 2010 (this may change)

A panel of judges will decide the winner by 31st March 2010 (this may change)

The winner will be announced on 31st March 2010 (this may change), receiving a lifetime pass to the

Melbourne Juggling Convention, including a seat in the public show

Please send any queries you have to Christian at mjcinfo@gmail.com

Good luck!
